How to Plan a Multi-Country Holiday to Asia
Family holidays to Asia — frequently asked questions
What is a multi-generational holiday?
A multi-generational holiday brings three (or more) generations of one family away together — typically grandparents, their adult children and the grandchildren. The art is in the planning: choosing destinations, hotels and a pace that suit a 6-year-old and a 76-year-old equally. That is exactly what we specialise in, with three pace options woven into a single shared itinerary.
Which Asian country is best for a family holiday with grandparents and grandchildren?
Thailand is the most popular all-ages choice — gentle, safe, warm and wonderfully child-friendly, with culture and beach in one trip. Japan is superb for its accessibility and the sheer fascination of bullet trains and temples for every age. Sri Lanka and a Singapore–Malaysia combination are also excellent. We will match the destination to your family's ages and interests.
Is Asia suitable for young grandchildren?
Yes — with the right planning. We choose family-friendly hotels, keep travel days short, build in pool and beach time, and include the experiences children love: elephants, river boats, night markets and bullet trains. Thailand, Sri Lanka and Singapore in particular are very easy with younger children.
How do you handle different ages and energy levels on one trip?
This is the heart of what we do. Our three pace options — Easy, Steady and Active — mean the family can split by day where it helps: a relaxed morning for grandparents while the younger ones take an active excursion, then everyone reunites for dinner. Your itinerary is designed around the whole group, not a fixed timetable.
When is the best time to take grandchildren to Asia?
Most families travel during the UK school holidays. Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka are at their best from November to March, which suits the Christmas, February half-term and Easter breaks beautifully. Japan is glorious for cherry blossom around the Easter holidays. We will steer you to the best destination for your chosen dates — and 2027 family dates are already being booked.
Are long-haul flights manageable for older grandparents?
Very much so. We fly from regional UK airports including Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh, and we can arrange Premium Economy or Business Class upgrades for extra comfort on the longer legs. Itineraries begin gently to allow for rest on arrival, and your specialist will advise on the most comfortable routings for the eldest travellers.
