Beyond the Triangle: Rajasthan and a tiger safari

When to go
India's climate makes timing important, and for the Golden Triangle and Rajasthan the cool season from October to March is unquestionably the best window to travel. During these months the days are warm and comfortable rather than fierce, the skies are clear and the evenings pleasantly cool, ideal for sightseeing on foot and for lingering on palace terraces after dark. This is peak season for good reason, and the finest palace suites are reserved well in advance.
The shoulder months reward forward planning. October brings lush, freshly washed landscapes after the monsoon, while February and early March see the gardens at their best and the wildlife parks especially productive before they close for the summer. The festival calendar can add real magic; Diwali in autumn fills the cities with light, and the colour of Holi in spring is unforgettable, though both bring extra demand for the best rooms.
From April the heat builds quickly across the plains, and the summer months are demanding for all but the most heat-tolerant, so we steer most guests firmly towards the cooler half of the year.
