Bali & Lombok: Two Islands, One Journey

Maya meets you at Denpasar airport. The late afternoon Tanah Lot temple visit is timed perfectly for the golden hour, then north to Ubud and check-in to the Four Seasons at Sayan.

Tirta Empul sacred spring, the Tegallalang rice terraces, and an afternoon at the hotel spa. Maya's cultural briefing over dinner prepares the group for the Lombok transition ahead.

The artisan village corridor in the morning, then the family compound cooking class in the afternoon — a full Balinese lunch of self-prepared dishes in Maya's extended family kitchen.

Transfer to Padangbai harbour for the two-hour fast boat crossing to Lombok. Sari meets you at the Lembar port and drives north to Senggigi — the main resort strip on Lombok's west coast, quiet and genuinely beautiful with Bali's Agung visible across the strait at sunset. Check in to the Qunci Villas.

Sari's cultural immersion in the Sasak world: the traditional village of Sade, where palm-leaf houses and hand-woven songket cloth represent a pre-colonial culture still actively maintained; the pottery village of Banyumulek where terracotta work is done entirely by hand using the ancient foot-wheel technique; and the Lingsar Temple — the only temple in the world shared equally by Hindu Balinese and Muslim Sasak communities, their different rituals conducted simultaneously in adjacent courtyards.

Drive north along Lombok's wild, undeveloped northwest coast — empty black sand beaches backed by coconut groves and forested hills, with Rinjani's caldera visible above the treeline. Visit the traditional Bayan Beleq mosque — the oldest mosque in Lombok, its simple thatched structure dating to the 16th century. Return via the hilltop Pura Suranadi Hindu temple in the Rinjani foothills.

A short 30-minute boat from Senggigi harbour to Gili Trawangan — the largest of the three Gili Islands and the most developed, though "developed" is relative: there are no cars, no motorbikes, no traffic lights. The island is 3km across. Check in to the Pearl of Trawangan and spend the afternoon snorkelling from the beach (sea turtles are reliably spotted within 20 minutes in the shallows) or simply lying in the shallow water watching the reef fish.

A completely free day on the Gili Islands. Snorkelling, swimming, a horse-cart circumnavigation of the island (3km circuit, 20 minutes), hammock time or a sunset dinner at a beach bar watching the sky turn pink behind Bali's volcanoes on the horizon. The Gilis operate to their own very gentle rhythm; this is the tour's purest rest day.

Fast boat from Gili Trawangan directly to Denpasar's Benoa harbour (approximately 90 minutes) then transfer to the airport. Maya meets you for the final stage of the journey home.
