About this tour

Some cities repay luxury in ways that budget travel simply cannot access. Singapore is one of them. The difference between a hawker centre and a supper club here is not snobbery — it is access to an entirely different layer of the city's extraordinary food culture. The difference between walking the Colonial District and a private dawn tour with a heritage architect is access to a conversation about this place that most visitors never have. This five-night experience is built around access. Your base is the Raffles Hotel — not merely Singapore's most famous address but one of the world's great buildings, reopened after a three-year restoration in 2019 with its 1887 grandeur meticulously reimagined for the 21st century. Every room is a suite. The Long Bar, where the Singapore Sling was invented in 1915, has been lovingly restored. The Palm Court — where you will take breakfast each morning — is one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in Asia. Emma Tan, our Singapore specialist, has reserved for this itinerary only the experiences she considers genuinely exceptional: a private dawn visit to the National Orchid Garden before public opening; a dinner table at the Singapore restaurant most reliably rated among the world's finest; a private after-hours tour of the Peranakan Museum; and a supper club in a 1930s Joo Chiat shophouse that fewer than 200 people a month experience. This is Singapore as it is lived by the city's most fortunate residents — and for five nights, it is yours.

The Raffles Long Bar at 18:00, a Singapore Sling in hand and the courtyard filling with the evening's guests — there is nowhere in the world quite like it. — Emma Tan, Asia Specialist

Day-by-day itinerary

1

Arrival at Raffles

Singapore

Private transfer from Changi Airport to Raffles Hotel, where you are met by name at the palm-shaded driveway and shown to your suite by a dedicated butler. The afternoon is yours — perhaps an introduction to the Long Bar, a swim in the 1887 Pool, or simply settling into the suite with the hotel's famous kaya toast and teh tarik. This evening, Emma joins you for the Singapore Sling in the Long Bar and dinner at the Raffles Grill — the hotel's signature restaurant.

Meals: Dinner (Raffles Grill)Walking: approx. 1 kmHotel: Raffles Hotel Singapore ★★★★★
Specialist tip: The Raffles butler service is genuinely exceptional — use it from the moment you arrive. They will press clothes, arrange anything you wish and recommend from personal experience.
2

Dawn Orchid Garden & Colonial Heritage

Singapore

Emma arranges private early-morning access to the National Orchid Garden in the Singapore Botanic Gardens at 07:00 — an hour before public opening. The garden holds over 1,000 orchid species, including the Vanda Miss Joaquim (Singapore's national flower), and in the early light with no other visitors, it is a profoundly beautiful experience. Breakfast afterwards at the Halia restaurant in the ginger garden, then a private walking tour of the Colonial Civic District with a heritage architect who has spent 20 years documenting Singapore's surviving colonial buildings.

Meals: Breakfast (Halia, Botanic Gardens)Walking: approx. 3 kmHotel: Raffles Hotel Singapore ★★★★★
Specialist tip: Wear your lightest clothes for the Orchid Garden — even at 07:00 Singapore is warm. The Halia breakfast is one of the finest in the city: the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon is outstanding.
3

Peranakan Museum & Private Joo Chiat

Singapore

A private after-hours tour of the Peranakan Museum — the finest collection of Peranakan (Straits Chinese) material culture in the world, housed in a beautifully converted 1912 building. The senior curator leads a 90-minute personal tour, discussing pieces not on public display and the social history of Singapore's most distinctive cultural community. The afternoon is entirely yours. This evening, Emma takes you to a private supper club in a meticulously restored 1930s shophouse in Joo Chiat — a seven-course Peranakan tasting menu with paired wines in a room of twenty covers that epitomises Singapore at its most refined.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner (Joo Chiat supper club, seven courses)Walking: approx. 2 kmHotel: Raffles Hotel Singapore ★★★★★
Specialist tip: The supper club requires smart casual dress — Singapore is a city where people dress for dinner, and the other guests will.
4

Marina Bay, Art Science Museum & Dinner at the Summit

Singapore

A leisurely morning at leisure — perhaps the Raffles Spa, or a slow walk through the colonial arcade to browse the hotel's galleries and boutiques. Mid-morning, private guided visit to the ArtScience Museum — the lotus-shaped building beside Marina Bay that houses simultaneously some of the world's finest touring exhibitions and Singapore's most architecturally extraordinary interior space. The evening culminates at Ce La Vi, the sky restaurant atop Marina Bay Sands on the 57th floor, where the private dining room has been reserved: Singapore's most dramatic restaurant view, with the entire city laid out below.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner (Ce La Vi, Marina Bay Sands)Walking: approx. 2 kmHotel: Raffles Hotel Singapore ★★★★★
Specialist tip: Request the window table Emma reserves — it faces directly toward the Gardens by the Bay Supertrees, which illuminate at 19:45 exactly as dinner service begins.
5

Morning at Leisure & Departure

Singapore

A final morning at Raffles — perhaps a last Long Bar breakfast, a farewell swim in the 1887 Pool, or a final treatment at the spa. Checkout is 12:00, with butler service to arrange luggage storage until your departure. Private transfer to Changi Airport.

The most perfect five days we can imagine

We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and wanted something extraordinary. This was it. Raffles exceeded every expectation — the butler service, the suite, the Long Bar, all magnificent. Emma's access to the Peranakan Museum after hours was genuinely special. The supper club was the finest meal of our lives. We have already recommended this to six friends.

Worth every penny and then some

The dawn Orchid Garden visit was magical — we had the entire garden to ourselves in the early light. The supper club in Joo Chiat was extraordinary — the food, the setting, the service, all perfect. Raffles is everything its reputation promises. Emma anticipated our every preference. Five stars without question.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Raffles Hotel Singapore as good as its reputation?

In our honest assessment: yes, and in some respects it exceeds it. The 2019 restoration was done with exceptional care for the original architecture and atmosphere. The all-suite configuration means even the smallest room is genuinely spacious and beautifully furnished. The butler service is attentive without being intrusive. The Long Bar and the Palm Court are as atmospheric as they appear in photographs. It is one of a handful of hotels in Asia that genuinely merits the term "landmark".

What is the supper club experience like?

The supper club is a genuinely private experience in a restored 1930s Joo Chiat shophouse with a maximum of 20 covers per sitting. The menu is a seven-course Peranakan tasting experience with paired wines, served in a beautifully decorated room by the family who owns the property. It is not available through any booking platform — Emma's relationship with the family is the only way to secure a table. Smart casual dress is required.

Can this be extended or combined with another destination?

Absolutely. Five nights in Singapore makes an excellent bookend to a longer journey: before or after two weeks in Bali, Japan, Vietnam or India. We frequently combine this Singapore luxury experience with a longer tour elsewhere in Asia. Emma can advise on the best sequencing depending on your interests.

Is this suitable as an anniversary or birthday trip?

It is designed partly with that purpose in mind. We can arrange in-room flowers, champagne, special menus and any other celebratory details — simply tell us the occasion when booking and Emma will ensure the right moments are marked.
