About this tour

The Philippines is 7,641 islands. Three of them are the reason the country tops every island-destination ranking in the world: El Nido, with its hidden lagoons and limestone karst theatre; Coron, with its Japanese WWII shipwrecks lying in clear water shallow enough to snorkel; and Boracay, whose White Beach — four kilometres of powdered coral sand — is widely considered the finest beach in Asia. This 12-day private circuit covers all three, with a specialist guide throughout, private boats for all island-hopping days, and accommodation carefully chosen to maximise time on the water and minimise time in transit. Marco dela Cruz, our Palawan specialist, leads the El Nido and Coron sections; Rosa Villamor joins for the Boracay days, where her knowledge of Philippine cultural history adds context to the island's extraordinary natural setting. The logistics of this circuit are what make it genuinely difficult to arrange independently — three islands, multiple inter-island flights, boat permits, lagoon entry fees and resort bookings all coordinated. We handle everything, so you experience the Philippines at its best without the stress of managing it yourself.

Co-designed by Marco dela Cruz (El Nido & Coron) and Rosa Villamor (Boracay), our two Philippines specialists.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerWalking: approx. 2 kmHotel: El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island ★★★★★
Specialist tip: Marco departs at 08:30 to get ahead of the day-trip boats. The Big Lagoon in silence, before anyone else arrives, is one of the Philippines' great travel experiences.
5

El Nido — Cadlao Lagoon & Remote Beaches

El Nido

Marco's private route to the northern, less-visited islands: Cadlao Lagoon, Helicopter Island beach, and coral snorkelling at Matinloc Shrine. Long lunch on a private sandbar.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerWalking: approx. 1 kmHotel: El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island ★★★★★
6

El Nido to Coron — By Fast Boat

El Nido → Coron

The spectacular fast boat from El Nido to Coron — four hours through the Calamian Islands, arguably the most beautiful island-chain passage in the Philippines. Arrive in Coron town mid-afternoon. Check in to the Two Seasons Coron Island Resort, set on its own private cove. Evening walk around Coron town waterfront.

Meals: Breakfast, DinnerWalking: approx. 2 kmHotel: Two Seasons Coron Island Resort ★★★★
Specialist tip: The El Nido–Coron fast boat passes through a sequence of uninhabited islands and turquoise channels that rivals anything in Southeast Asia. Marco arranges seating on the upper deck.
7

Coron — WWII Shipwrecks & Kayangan Lake

Coron

Coron's extraordinary double feature: the Okikawa Maru and Irako WWII Japanese supply ships, sunk by US aircraft in 1944 and now lying in 5–28 metres of clear water — snorkellable without a diving qualification, and among the most atmospheric underwater experiences in the world. Afternoon: Kayangan Lake — a hidden freshwater lake inside a limestone karst, reached by a short forest path. The turquoise-blue water is among the clearest in Asia.

Meals: Breakfast, LunchWalking: approx. 3 kmHotel: Two Seasons Coron Island Resort ★★★★
Specialist tip: The shallow sections of the Okikawa Maru wreck — the deck railings, the winches and the anti-aircraft guns — are at 5–8 metres and entirely snorkellable. Marco identifies each section and explains the ship's history.
8

Coron — Twin Lagoon & Barracuda Lake

Coron

Twin Lagoon — two connected sea-water lagoons separated by a limestone wall, passing between them through a low archway by kayak at high tide. Barracuda Lake — a volcanic lake with thermoclines creating warm and cold layers at different depths, and the largest barracuda population in the Philippines. Afternoon free at the resort cove.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerWalking: approx. 1 kmHotel: Two Seasons Coron Island Resort ★★★★
9

Coron to Boracay — Internal Flights

Coron → Boracay

Morning flight from Coron (Busuanga airport) to Kalibo or Caticlan for Boracay. Rosa meets you at the Caticlan jetty and accompanies you on the boat to Boracay. Transfer to the Shangri-La Boracay — set on the quieter northern headland of the island, above a private beach with White Beach walkable along the shoreline. Welcome dinner at the resort.

Meals: Breakfast, DinnerWalking: approx. 1 kmHotel: Shangri-La Boracay ★★★★★
10

Boracay White Beach & Puka Shell Beach

Boracay

Rosa's Boracay day: White Beach at dawn, before the sun-loungers are set out — four kilometres of powdered coral sand, calm turquoise water, and the first light catching the boats at anchor. Rosa's commentary on how Boracay was closed for 6 months in 2018 for environmental rehabilitation, and what that rehabilitation achieved, is fascinating. Afternoon: Puka Shell Beach on the north coast — quieter, wilder, and where the original surfers discovered Boracay 40 years ago.

Meals: Breakfast, LunchWalking: approx. 3 kmHotel: Shangri-La Boracay ★★★★★
11

Boracay — Snorkelling & Sunset Sailing

Boracay

Morning snorkelling at Crocodile Island marine sanctuary — sea turtles, leopard sharks and schools of batfish in a protected reef just offshore. Afternoon free on White Beach. Evening: paraw sailing at sunset — the traditional Philippine double-outrigger sailboat, the most iconic image of Boracay, gliding along the beach in the final hour of light.

Meals: Breakfast, DinnerWalking: approx. 2 kmHotel: Shangri-La Boracay ★★★★★
Specialist tip: The paraw sailing at sunset is one of the Philippines' great travel moments. Rosa books the best boat and the best captain — a paraw run by a family who has been sailing the same stretch of White Beach for three generations.
12

Boracay Departure

Boracay → Manila

Final morning free on White Beach. Rosa accompanies you to the Caticlan jetty and onwards to the airport for your flight back to Manila. Transfer to Ninoy Aquino International Airport for your international departure.

The Philippines delivered everything we hoped for

We'd been debating a Philippines trip for years and this circuit was the perfect way to commit — you get three genuinely different island experiences without the logistics nightmare. El Nido is other-worldly. Coron's shipwrecks are something we never expected to be able to snorkel. Boracay at sunset from a paraw is the most beautiful thing we've ever seen.

Marco's knowledge of the wrecks was extraordinary

I hadn't expected to love the Coron section but the WWII shipwreck snorkelling was the highlight of the whole trip. Marco could identify every section of the Okikawa Maru and told us the whole story of the Japanese fleet's destruction in 1944. Kayangan Lake afterwards was simply beautiful. Miniloc Island is like nothing else.

Excellent — only the Coron–Boracay flight was stressful

The tour itself was magnificent — all three islands exceeded expectations and both guides were superb. We lost a few hours on the Coron–Boracay routing due to a domestic flight delay, which wasn't anyone's fault, but it meant a later arrival in Boracay than planned. Everything else was flawless.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I snorkel the WWII wrecks without diving experience?

Yes. The shallow sections of the wrecks in Coron Bay — particularly the Okikawa Maru and Irako — have their upper decks at 5–8 metres, fully accessible to snorkellers with standard gear and a life vest. Marco identifies the historically significant sections from the surface. Certified divers can go deeper as an add-on (£175pp).

How do I get between the three islands?

We arrange everything: a private van from Puerto Princesa to El Nido, a fast passenger ferry from El Nido to Coron (4 hours — beautiful journey), and a domestic flight from Busuanga (Coron's airport) to Caticlan or Kalibo for Boracay. All included in the tour price.

Is Boracay still worth visiting after the 2018 closure?

Emphatically yes — in fact, the 6-month closure for environmental rehabilitation in 2018 significantly improved the island. Illegal structures were removed, the sewage system was overhauled, and the White Beach section is cleaner and better managed than before the closure. Rosa addresses the whole story on Day 10.

What is the El Nido to Coron fast boat like?

It is a 4-hour passenger ferry through the Calamian island chain — one of the most scenically beautiful sea passages in the Philippines. The boat has covered seating and an open upper deck. Marco arranges upper-deck seating where weather permits. Bring a jacket — it can be windy.
